Professor Harold Ellis is an emeritus professor of surgery at the University of London. His long and successful career began as a medical student at the University of Oxford. Professor Ellis began work in 1948, the same year the NHS began. His work brought him to work in hospitals all around the country and the Royal Army Medical Corp. During his career, he also published several books, most notably Clinical Anatomy, a book now in its thirteenth edition and Lecture notes on general surgery, eleventh edition. These books are still staples on a medical student’s reading list. Professor Ellis continued his work as a senior lecturer and foundation professor until 1989, when he retired.
However, Professor Ellis’s passion for medicine and anatomy did not end in 1989. He continues to give talks on his experience in the surgical field, therefore remaining an inspiration to many future surgeons.
Please join us on Wednesday, October 1st at 6:15PM in St Lukes lecture theatre NC12, to hear the professor's talk on "Royal Operations". Sign up now!
