Waheed-Ul-Rahman Ahmed - President
Hi all! My name is Waheed-Ul-Rahman Ahmed and I am a third-year medical student at the University of Exeter. I have had the great fortune of being elected president of the Exeter Surgical Society, after serving as events coordinator and treasurer for the society last year. I am highly passionate about a career in academic surgery, being particularly interested in plastic surgery. During my time as president I will ensure that Exeter Surgical Society members are enthused and educated about a highly-competitive career in surgery and that there are a vast array of lectures, workshops and careers evenings that students can attend to gain insight into surgery.
My previous leadership efforts led me to be awarded a full grant to attend the University of Oxford, Young Muslim Leadership Programme, a highly-competitive and intensive summer school, emphasising my leadership capability. I am really excited about the opportunity to lead the Surgical Society towards a new direction and hope to use the skills I have acquired to make history for the society. In my ever-ambitious nature, I hope to organise Exeter Surgical Society’s first ever conference: The South West Plastic Surgery Conference 2018.
