Keira Soanes - President
Hello! My name is Keira and I am a fourth year student currently at Exeter. I have had the great fortune of being be elected president of the society this year, and I am looking forward ensuring ExeSS continues to be a successful, active and engaging society for all its members. I, myself, am very passionate about the world of surgery; I hope to ensure that ExeSS serves to not only to inspire and educate all budding surgeons, but to ignite a passion for surgery in all those who are curious, providing each and every member with the absolute paramount surgical experience during their time at medical school. With our assiduous, dedicated committee and an already busy calendar of workshops, lectures and careers evenings to be led by some of Exeter’s most renowned surgeons, I am sure this year will be wonderful!

My second role as Treasurer involves dealing with the finances and accounts of the society and finding sponsors and establishing partnerships so that we can host awesome events and trips for you this coming year. Uyen Nguyen - Events Coordinator
My name is Uyen Nguyen (aka. Winnie). I am a final year medical student of PCMD and one of the event coordinator of Exess this year 2016-17.
I have spent four years of my medical training at Exeter and therefore I am familiar with the pre-clinical and clinical curriculums in this locality and the AMK. Having different times struggling at the medical school myself, I feel passionate about helping students to achieve their academic goals and I hope to share my previous experiences with our members.
Eniola Olayato-Aribo - Events Coordinator
Hey! My name is Eniola and I am a 2nd year medical student in Exeter. I'm one of the Event coordinators for the Surgical society. Together with my colleagues, our job will be to organise a range of lectures and events. These will not only be useful to people interested in a surgical career, but also people interested in expanding their knowledge outside the curriculum. The lectures and events will also be aimed at supporting aspects of the medicine course, practical surgical skills, surgical anatomy, physiology and clinical scenarios. These events will help you build on clinical knowledge and also help in the AMK, so are definitely a good shout even if you are not interested in surgery at all. If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at: email@example.com
Shannon Devlin - Placement Coordinator
Hi, I'm Shannon, a 2nd year student here at Exeter and the new placement co-ordinator for the ExeSS committee 2016-17. My role is to source and organise local placement opportunities in the surgical field for all those budding surgeons and students interested in exploring the speciality. My aim is to promote how beneficial it is to gather such clinical experience early on in medical school and allow others to become as excited about surgery as I am. Hopefully this will boost your clinical knowledge, AMK scores and steer you in the direction of whether this speciality could be for you.
Placements such as these are also a great way to gain connections and learn anatomy from an alternative perspective. If you have any queries or interest in getting involved, feel free to email me at:
